Vignan ECE Student Receives Prestigious IEEE AESS International Travel Grant It is a moment of immense pride and honor for the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering at Vignans Foundation for Science, Technology and Research (Deemed to be University), Vadlamudi, as our final year undergraduate student, Mr. Sarikonda Gopi Krishna Raju (Reg. No. 231LA05010), has been selected as a recipient of prestigious international travel grant of USD 800 by the IEEE Aerospace and Electronic Systems Society (AESS). Mr. Sarikonda Gopi Krishna Raju will represent Vignan at the IEEE AESS Student and Young Professionals (SYP) Congress 2025, to be held from August 13 to 15, 2025 in Nairobi, Kenya. This global forum brings together outstanding students, young professionals, and researchers in the field of aerospace and electronic systems. IEEE AESS SYP Congress 2025 Nairobi, Kenya August 13 to 15, 2025. This is the ultimate achievement of interdisciplinary guidance and strategic planning to support student career growth. Doctorate for Professor of Vignan’s University
Madaka Krishna Chennakesava Rao, assistant professor at the ECE department of Vadlamudi Vignan’s University in Chebrolu mandal, has been awarded a PhD degree in electronics and communication engineering by the university, Vice-Chancellor Colonel and Professor P Nagabhushan said on Tuesday. Speaking on the occasion, he said that he has done research on "Investigations on Compact CPW Fed Circularly Polarized Wide and Dual Band Antennas for 5G, Wireless Lan and Satellite Applications". He was guided by Dr Pachiyanan Muthusamy, associate professor at the ECE department at Vignan’s University. As part of his research, he published 2 SCI papers and 4 Scopus papers. Vice-chancellor of the university, Prof. P. Nagabhushan, deans, heads and faculty members of the respective departments congratulated him on his PhD degree.

ECE Faculty Got PHD
Vice-Chancellor Prof. P. Nagabhushan said on Tuesday that his university has awarded a PhD degree in electronics and communication engineering to Kommoju Lovaraju, assistant professor, DEPARTMENT of ECE department of Vadlamudi Vignan's University in Chebrolu mandal. Speaking on the occasion, he said that he has done research on the topic "Implementation of an Internet of Things Based Cloud Enabled Service for Smart Agriculture Monitoring and Decision Making System". He is an Associate Professor and Associate Dean, Department of ECE, Vignan's University and Associate Dean- AAA Dr. V. Vijayaraghavan acted as a guide. Vice-Chancellor prof. P. Nagabhushan, deans, heads and faculty members of the respective departments congratulated Kommoju Lovaraju for his Ph.D. degree.

Satellite launching is a wonderful process
Satellite launching is a wonderful process said Dr. MYS Prasad, former director of Satish Dhawan Space Center, Sriharikota, director of Chandrayaan-1 mission, former vice chancellor of Vignan’s University, Padma Shri Dr. MYS Prasad. A special lecture program on "Satellite Launching" was held on Friday in celebration of National Space Day at Vadlamudi Science University, Chebrolu Mandal. Padmashri Dr. MYS Prasad, who attended the program as the chief guest, spoke to the students and explained the procedures and methods followed in various PSLV and GSLV satellite launching occasions. Before launching the satellite, the precautions to be taken to get into the designated orbit are explained. What kind of spare parts are installed in a satellite? Their weights and their goals were shared with the students. Students are informed how to use space specifications such as various engineering disciplines.
Besides, the students were made aware of the issues like space missions, technical details about them, general working crew of ISS, old space stations, space station crew activities, environment control and life support systems of ISS, space suits, crew training on ground, research activities on ISS. Dr. Lavu Rattaiah, Chairman of Vignan’s Educational Institutions, Vice-Chancellor Professor P. Nagabhushan, Registrar Dr. MS Raghunathan, Deans, heads, teaching staff and students of the respective departments participated in the program.

CSC Academy (C-DAC & IEEE)
Mr. A. Ramu, a distinguished guest at our ECE department's Voice 2k24 fest held on May 1st, shared the stage with Prof N. Usharani (Dean SEECE), Prof. Dr. T. Pitchaiah, HoD, and Dr Ravi Sekhar(Dean T&D). During his address, Mr. Ramu shared his life experiences, becoming emotional as he recounted his journey. Despite facing challenges, his resilience and determination were truly inspiring to our students. The fest showcased our students' talents in dance, singing, and playing musical instruments, with Mr. Ramu actively engaging and encouraging their participation. He also presented certificates and medals to the winners and runners-up in sports and academics along with Dr. K. Annapurna, Dr. M. Sarada, and Dr. T. Pitchaiah. In recognition of his contributions to the industry and our alma mater, our department honored Mr. Ramu (2001-2005), expressing our gratitude for his inspiring presence and words of encouragement during the event.

ECE Department had International Workshop
Dr. Sudhakar Rao, President and CEO of WAMs Light Fellow in USA and IEEE Life Fellow said that all students should invest in research and development. International level work on "Recent Advances in Fundamentals, Analysis, Design, Fabrication and Test of Advanced Antennas for Space, Air and Ground Applications" under the aegis of Department of ECE, School of Electrical, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Chebrolu Mandal, Vadlamudi Science University Shop on Tuesday Organized grandly.
Dr. Sudhakar Rao, President and CEO of WAMS Light Fellow, USA, IEEE Life Fellow, who attended the program as the chief guest, said that innovation should be a daily routine for engineering students. Every student pursuing engineering education should have five qualities like learning, applying, developing, innovating and leading. They want to develop critical skills like systems, hardware, software, mechanical, tests and customer understanding. They want to think outside of the box and develop concepts. They want to understand the fundamentals thoroughly and apply them to problems and get results. Students are advised not to follow your passions and do only what you like.
Professor Ramana Reddy, Vice Principal of JNTU, Pulivendulu, who attended the program as the guest of honour, said that if we always do things in the same stereotyped manner, it will bore the students after a few years. They want to think for simpler methods beyond the scope. They want to try to do things in a new and creative way. Later, the chief guests were felicitated. Farewells marked the end, but they also meant new beginnings. With happy memories in their hearts, ECE students started their next journey, thankful for the past and excited for what's to come.

Advanced RF, Microwave & Wireless Communication laboratory
In a ground breaking announcement made on Friday, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi revealed that Vignan University has been selected by the Department of Telecommunications, Ministry of Communications, and Government of India to establish a state-of the-art 5G lab. This is initiative aims to foster innovation and research in the burgeoning field of 5G technology, a pivotal step towards advancing India’s digital capabilities. The announcement took place during the Indian Mobile Congress-2023 Global Digital Innovation Program held in Delhi. Professor P. Nagabhushan, the Vice Chancellor of Vignan University, shared this exciting news with students gathered in the auditorium of the esteemed educational institution. Prime Minister Modi’s commitment to expand 5G research and development extends to 100 universities across the nation, with Vignan University taking a prominent role in this transformative effort.
The program, conducted in an online mode, allowed all the students to witness the historic announcement from the VFSTR, Sangamam seminar hall. The event was expertly supervised by Mr. Ramakrishna Majeti, the Director of Rural and Technology at the Department of Telecommunication in Vijayawada. Mr. Majeti, delivered his speech disclosed that this initiative goes beyond merely facilitating 5G technology; it also nurtures the growth of startup communities among students. Furthermore, this move serves as a significant step in nation-building, demonstrating India’s commitment to staying at the forefront of technological advancements.
The choice of Vignan’s University as the location for the 5G lab emphasized the institution’s dedication to fostering innovation and research. This 5G use case lab is expected to promote academia and industry collaboration, while also extending the benefits of 5G technology to rural and remote areas, thus bridging the digital divide. Mr. Majeti urged stakeholders to continue developing the startup ecosystem and actively participate in the journey towards 6G technology, underlining the country’s ambition to remain a global technology leader. The program was attended by deans, heads of departments, and enthusiastic students from various academic disciplines, highlighting the interdisciplinary approach that is central to the success of this initiative.
With the establishment of the 5G lab at Vignan University represents a significant milestone in India’s technological evolution, marking the nation’s commitment to advance in the world of telecommunications and digital innovation.
