Globally recognized, the department holds ABET accreditation for six years and NBA accreditation for six years, reflecting our dedication to delivering world-class education and preparing students for future challenges. We pride ourselves to be one of the 9 among India ABET accreditation and 930 institutions across the world, now fulfilling the requirements for Professional Engineer license in the USA. This accreditation is also highly valued in countries like Australia, Bangladesh, Canada, China, Costa Rica, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Philippines, Peru, Russia, Singapore, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Turkey, United Kingdom, and United States facilitating easier mobility of graduates across borders for employment or further studies.

The Department of Mechanical Engineering excels in education, research and industry collaboration. The Department prides itself on its exceptional faculty and cutting-edge facilities. With a proper blend of experienced and young faculty of which 85% PhDs, including 45 research holders, bring extensive knowledge and industry expertise, actively engaging in research across specialized areas. The Department offers a diverse range of programs, including two undergraduate programs - B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering Engineering (ME) and B.Tech in Robotics and Automation (RA) - as well as one Postgraduate program - M.Tech in Machine Design. Additionally, the department offers a Ph.D. program, fostering advanced research and innovation.

The department houses 12 state-of-the-art laboratories, including specialized 4 Research Centers, 2 Advanced research Center and a Center of Excellence (CoE). Our department has also made significant strides in research, with a total of 50 patents published and granted, including International and National patents. We have successfully completed funded and consultancy projects for multiple industries worth of 100 million and currently involved in ongoing projects of worth 60 million and another 100 million in consideration by strengthening our industry ties.

In research, the department boasts over 350+ SCOPUS-indexed publications (H-index: 39, 3500+ citations) and 275+ Web of Science publications (H-index: 26, 1,500+ citations). These achievements reflect our commitment to contributing impactful knowledge to the global scientific community. The Department of Mechanical Engineering is dedicated to equipping students with the skills needed to thrive in an ever-changing world. This commitment is reflected in our impressive placement record of around 90%, along with 10% of students pursuing higher education at prestigious institutions globally. Looking ahead to 2030, our vision is to establish the Department of Mechanical Engineering as a premier center for academic excellence, research and innovation. We aim to significantly increase the number of patents, publications and collaborative projects with leading global institutions and industries. Our goal is to become a top-tier department with a focus on emerging technologies such as Robotics, Smart Manufacturing, composites for Aviation and Automotive industries and Manufacturing Analytics. By 2030, we plan to increase industry partnerships by 50%, expand research funding by 40% and ensure that 100% of our graduates are employed in key technology sectors or pursuing higher education in world-renowned institutions. Advancements include robotics (autonomous systems and cobots), additive manufacturing (3D printing), AI integration in predictive maintenance, and renewable energy technologies like advanced wind turbines and solar systems.
For conducting experimental research, we have a practice of providing seed grant upto a worth of Rs. 2 lakhs to develop prototype and further the students are encouraged for start-ups with the aid of VIGNAN – TBI under faculty mentorship.
The students who have completed the 12th standard with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics courses and obtained a minimum of 60% marks become eligible to seek admission in the Mechanical Engineering Program. The selection process involves a specially designed entrance test called Vignan's Scholastic Aptitude Test (V-SAT) for admission to the B. Tech program.
Yes, 25% of seats in each department are reserved for scholarships, based on merit and availability. Scholarships range from 25% to 75% tuition waiver, subject to maintaining 70% academic performance annually.
We would like to happily inform that the Department has achieved accreditation status by NBA for a period of 3 years i.e., from 2023 to 2026 successfully completing second inspection and ABET accreditation for a period of 6 years till 2030 which is the only institute in A.P. and Telangana.
