The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at VFSTR is a globally recognized hub of excellence, accredited by ABET (USA) (2024–2030) and by NBA (2020–26). It offers a comprehensive range of programs, including B.Tech in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, M.Tech in Power Electronics and Drives, M.Tech in Electric Vehicle Technology, and Ph.D. in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, along with specialized Honors Programs in Electric Vehicles and Sustainable Energy Systems. With a curriculum enriched by advanced courses in Machine Learning, the department ensures students are equipped to meet emerging industry demands.

At VFSTR, learning extends beyond the classroom, with a strong focus on hands-on, experiential education. Students gain invaluable real-world experience through state-of-the-art labs, global internships, foreign exchange programs, and opportunities to manage critical university infrastructure, such as the 33/11KV substation and 1 MW rooftop solar power plant. These initiatives prepare students for real-world challenges while fostering a diverse and inclusive learning environment that attracts international students.

The department's faculty, with 95% holding Ph.D. degrees and over 15 years of experience on average, ensure programs are innovative and industry-relevant. Research and academic activities focus on key areas such as Renewable Energy Systems, Smart Grids and Microgrids, Electric Vehicles and Transportation Electrification, Power Electronics and Drives, Control Systems and Automation, and Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence in Electrical Systems. With a strong emphasis on global exposure, research excellence, and practical learning, the department is dedicated to nurturing future leaders in electrical engineering.

YEAR 1 You will be introduced to the Fundamental principles of Electrical, Electronics Engineering and Computer programming. Moreover, you will be well trained in English Communication Skills in addition to introduction of courses on a wide range of areas. YEAR 2 You will cover all the relevant topics that comprise the fundamentals of Electrical Machines, Power systems, Electronic devices, Digital electronics and other courses of your choice. In addition to it you will be introduced to the basics of machine leaning. YEAR 3 Your studies will become more focused, with a choice of up to eight courses related to your core streams, chosen from a range of 20; all combined with individual practical work. YEAR 4 You will build a portfolio of 6 to 10 specialized courses that match your particular interests. During this period you will undertake an individual research project or work in an industry of your interest (internship) and write a dissertation on the chosen topic.
