The Advanced Computer Science Department takes pride in its multidisciplinary research faculty and state-of-the-art facilities. With 2 Professors, 5 Associate Professors, and 27 Assistant Professors, our team of experts brings a wealth of academic knowledge and industry experience. Many of our faculty members hold Ph.D. degrees and are actively engaged in cutting-edge research across specialized areas, driving innovation and technological advancements in the field.

Department of ACSE offers several specialization programs in B.Tech-CSE. They include Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AIML), Data Science, Cyber Security, Internet of Things and Computer Science and Business Systems. Additionally, department offers science programs such as a four-year B.S. (Data Science) and M.Sc. (Data Science). For advanced research, Department of ACSE offers a M.Tech (by Research) program and a Ph.D. program in cutting-edge areas like Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, Computer vision, Cyber Security, Blockchain, Cryptography, wireless sensors, VANETS etc.

The Department of ACSE is home to a range of advanced facilities that encourage research, innovation, and academic excellence. Our specialized AI Centre of Excellence, combined with 14 well-equipped lab-classrooms and 5 smart classrooms, provides students with the perfect environment for learning and hands-on experience. For those focusing on AI and ML, our labs are outfitted with high-performance computing systems and GPUs, enabling efficient training and deployment of models. Additionally, our data science lab offers valuable resources for gaining proficiency in big data analytics, machine learning, and statistical modeling. To enhance practical knowledge, cyber security lab is equipped for penetration testing, vulnerability assessments, and network simulations, offering students real-world exposure to cybersecurity tools and techniques.

In research, the department has made significant strides with 13 published patents, 48 journal publications, and 22 conference publications. With an average H-index of 6 and 113.27 citations, our research efforts continue to contribute valuable knowledge to the global scientific community. Additionally, our average i10 index stands at 5.33, highlighting the impact of our work in advancing technology and innovation.

The Department strives to equip students with the skills and knowledge required to excel in a rapidly evolving technological landscape. This dedication is evident in our remarkable achievement of an 85% placement rate, with 15% of our students advancing their education at esteemed institutions worldwide.

By 2030, our vision is to transform the Advanced Computer Science Department into a leading hub for research, innovation, and industry collaboration. We aim to establish a specialized center focused on developing low-cost AI solutions for healthcare, agriculture, education, and transportation, addressing real-world challenges through cutting-edge technology. Our goals include expanding research initiatives, increasing partnerships with top global institutions, and fostering a strong culture of entrepreneurship. The journey begins by establishing a solid foundation in engineering with fundamental courses across science and technology. These include key subjects such as Engineering Mathematics. No matter the chosen specialization—AIML, Cyber Security, CSBS, Data Science, or IoT—the first year equips students with essential skills and knowledge to prepare for advanced learning in subsequent years.

YEAR 2: Expanding Horizons in Computing
In the second year, students broaden their knowledge base by delving into core computer science subjects. Courses such as Data Structures, Database Systems and Design and Analysis of Algorithms etc., are taught across all specializations, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of computing concepts. This year sets the stage for more specialized study in fields like Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning, Cyber Security, Data Science, IoT, or Business Systems.

The third year is focused on developing expertise in a specific domain:

The ACSE curriculum covers key subjects such as Advanced Algorithms and Data Structures, Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning, Cybersecurity & Cryptography, Distributed Computing, Cloud Computing, Data Science and Big Data Analytics, and the Internet of Things (IoT). These subjects equip students with the skills needed for a wide range of career opportunities, including roles such as AI and Machine Learning Engineer, Data Scientist, Cybersecurity Expert, Cloud Architect, Software Developer (Backend or Full Stack), and positions in Research and Development focused on emerging technologies.
The department offers AI and machine learning labs, high-performance computing (HPC) facilities, cybersecurity and cryptography labs, cloud computing and virtualization platforms, and IoT labs equipped with smart devices for hands-on learning. Each lab is equipped with 70 computers featuring the latest specifications, including Intel Core i5 processors (3.2 GHz), 8 GB RAM, 64-bit operating systems, and Wi-Fi connectivity to access online resources.
The future is driven by automation, and the scope for AI & Data Science (DS) is vast. There are numerous job opportunities in India's IT sector, as nearly every company has established an AI & DS division. Industries such as Ola, Uber, Amazon, and Flipkart leverage AI for various applications, including movie and product recommendations, YouTube suggestions, Spotify genre recommendations, Google Maps, autonomous vehicles, and voice assistants like Alexa.
The salary packages for CSE and IT Engineers range from 5 to 30 lakhs, with an average salary of around 10 lakhs. In comparison, AI & DS Engineers can expect packages between 8 to 35 lakhs, with an average salary of approximately 12 lakhs.
