At Chemical Engineering research often results in the development of innovative and patentable ideas, leading to new technologies and, sometimes, new companies. Faculty members in the department have strong interactions with industry, including consulting, sponsored research, and/or advisory board activities. Opportunities continue to arise to use your technical and entrepreneurial abilities to create new solutions to societal problems.

  • Research is supported by state-of-the-art research and computing laboratories. The students participate in and university-wide multidisciplinary research thrust areas.
  • The department of Chemical Engineering also has a strong research thrust in the area of waste to wealth. Additional research thrust areas include Recovery of metals from industrial waste, Energy materials used for batteries, Effluent treatment, and Waste heat recovery.
  • Exceptional facilities are available for the synthesis and characterization of membrane materials, molecular and cellular biological samples, novel catalysts, polymeric materials, and surface coatings.
  • Apart from imparting the general subject knowledge to the students and guiding them in their project works, the faculty members are encouraged at every level to pursue their research, publish papers periodically, attend conferences on a regular basis and active participation in funded projects and consultancy.
  • They are also encouraged to go for higher studies whenever possible. Research is mostly encouraged where there are not onlyglobal applications but also down - to - earth applications of immediate surroundings and society.

UV Visible Spectro Photo Meter
A UV-Vis spectrophotometer is an analytical instrument used to measure the absorption or reflectance of ultraviolet (UV) and visible (Vis) light by a sample.
Shell and Tube Heat Exchanger
A shell and tube heat exchanger is a highly efficient and widely used heat transfer device designed to transfer heat between two fluids.

Our Research Facilities
The Department of Chemical Engineering has excellent research infrastructure in terms of general requirements and state-of-the art equipment in the laboratories. The Chemical Engineering department has significantly enhanced its research capabilities with the acquisition of advanced equipment including HPLC, GC, Spray drier, Waste heat recovery unit, Spectro photo meter, Muffle furnace, and Fume hood. These upgrades support a wide range of research in recovery of metals from industrial waste, energy materials used for batteries, effluent treatment and waste heat recovery. By utilizing these research facilities, faculty and research scholars published 285 papers across various platforms, securing multiple patents, and successfully conducting numerous UG projects.

Research Projects
Faculty members in the department have strong interactions with industry, including consulting, sponsored research, and/or advisory board activities. Opportunities continue to use technical and entrepreneurial abilities to create new solutions to societal problems. Research is supported by state-of-the-art research and computing laboratories. The faculty participate in university-wide multidisciplinary research thrust areas. Faculty completed one research project titled ‘Preparation of High Pure Magnesium Titanate from Different Resources of Titanium Tetrachloride and Sea Water Bitterns / Magnesium Chloride a By-Product of Titanium Plant’ worth of 24.23 lakhs funded by DRDO and two projects titled ‘Technologies for solar based clean water and sewage treatment‘ and ‘Preparation of Anhydrous Magnesium Chloride from Sea Water Bitterns and Magnesite‘ are ongoing worth of 109 lakhs funded by DST and DRDO. Our faculty also completed three consultancy projects titled ‘worth of 18 lakhs supported by CSIR-IMMT and Onshore Construction Company and three projects are ongoing worth of 23 lakhs supported by CSIR-IMMT and Lohum Cleantech.
