At Chemical Engineering research often results in the development of innovative and patentable ideas, leading to new technologies and, sometimes, new companies. Faculty members in the School have strong interactions with industry, including consulting, sponsored research, and/or advisory board activities. Opportunities continue to arise to use your technical and entrepreneurial abilities to create new solutions to societal problems. Research is supported by state-of-the-art research and computing laboratories. The students participate in and university-wide multidisciplinary research thrust areas. The School of Chemical Engineering also has a strong research thrust in the area of separations, particularly membrane separations. Additional research thrust areas include environmental sustainability, computational fluid dynamics, and biotechnology. Exceptional facilities are available for the synthesis and characterization of membrane materials, molecular and cellular biological samples, novel catalysts, polymeric materials, and surface coatings.

Research Projects
Faculty members in the department have strong interactions with industry, including consulting, sponsored research, and/or advisory board activities. Opportunities continue to use technical and entrepreneurial abilities to create new solutions to societal problems. Research is supported by state-of-the-art research and computing laboratories. The faculty participate in university-wide multidisciplinary research thrust areas. Faculty completed one research project worth of 24 lakhs funded by DRDO and two projects are ongoing worth of 109 lakhs funded by DRDO an DST. Our faculty also completed three consultancy projects worth of 18 lakhs supported by CSIR-IMMT and Onshore Construction Company and three projects are ongoing worth of 23 lakhs supported by CSIR-IMMT and Lohum Cleantech.

Our Research Facilities
The Department of Chemical Engineering has excellent infrastructure in terms of general requirements and state - of - the art lab equipment in the laboratories in particular. The department has sufficient computers, projectors and ample speed of internet and local network connectivity. The classrooms are ICT enabled, equipped with Computer, projector, SMART boards and PA systems. The department has 3 classrooms and 3 tutorial classrooms. Also, the department is equipped with a seminar hall and 4 staff rooms. Apart from the Central Library facility, the Department has a departmental library also. This library is meant for in place reference.
