The Andhra Pradesh SpaceTech Academy, (APSA), Amaravati, was established on 22nd August 2025, during the National Space Day Celebrations, with enthusiastic participation from academia and industry.

APSA is the first State-level SpaceTech Academy in Andhra Pradesh, founded with a vision to advance space sciences and nurture the next generation of scientists, engineers, and entrepreneurs—driving the State towards Swarna Andhra Pradesh and an Viksit Bharat, 2047.

VISION

To establish Andhra Pradesh as a hub of excellence in space science and technology, nurturing skilled talent, fostering innovation, and driving sustainable growth— paving the way for a self-reliant and globally competitive SpaceTech ecosystem that contributes to the realization of Swarna Andhra Pradesh and Viksit Bharat 2047.

Dr. S. Venkatraman spoke on the convergence of space technology and artificial intelligence. He explained how AI-driven satellite data supports applications such as agricultural risk management, disaster monitoring, and urban and infrastructure assessment. He highlighted that AI depends on data and explained the role of machine learning and deep learning in satellite data analysis, including the use of labelled data, real-time inferencing, and SAR satellite imagery for advanced earth observation.

Mr. Ravikumar Mandalapu spoke on the role of humanoid robots in space missions. He explained that humanoids are human-like intelligent robotic systems designed for mobility and dexterity, enabling operations in hostile space environments while enhancing safety and endurance. He emphasised that humanoids are not meant to replace humans but to extend human capabilities into space, aligning with India's long-term vision for advanced and sustainable space exploration.

Scientist/Engineer-SF, NRSC-ISRO

Mrs. P. V. Jayashree delivered an address on synchronising L-band and S-band Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) for global earth observation through the NISAR mission. She explained the differences between optical and microwave imaging and provided insights into the electromagnetic spectrum and radar frequencies. She discussed the characteristics of C-band, X-band, and S-band frequencies and highlighted ISRO's Earth Observation Programme. She also elaborated on the NASA-ISRO Synthetic Aperture Radar (NISAR) mission and the role of the Bhoonidhi portal in providing satellite data access.

Dr. V. M. Chowdary spoke on addressing agricultural challenges in developing countries through space technology. Mr. K. Venkateswarlu spoke about the strong support and proactive response from Vignan's University in organising the AP Space Tech Summit 2026 in collaboration with the Rocketry Challenge. He highlighted initiatives that enabled over 10,000 students to gain exposure to rocket and space technology through structured learning and practical knowledge. He also spoke about the Government of Andhra Pradesh's support in providing opportunities for government school students to learn rocket engineering, including national-level exposure programs. Dr. Lavu Rathaiah, Chairman of Vignan's University, addressed the gathering during the Faculty-Industry Immersion Program and shared his views on the initiative. Faculty Industry Immersion Program Success Meet

As part of the AP Space Tech Summit 2026, a Faculty Industry Immersion Program Success Meet was conducted with the participation of industry leaders, training faculty, and academic representatives. Several companies that partnered with Vignan's University for the Faculty Industry Immersion Program took part in the meet. During the program, company dignitaries, training mentors, Deans, and Heads of Departments shared their views and experiences on the initiative. The discussions focused on the effectiveness of industry exposure in enhancing faculty skills and aligning academic teaching with industry requirements. The Faculty Industry Immersion Program is a pioneering initiative, being implemented for the first time in India, where faculty members are placed in industries for a period of six months. Through hands-on participation, faculty gained practical industry experience, relevant skills, and exposure to real-world applications, which will further strengthen teaching and research practices. The participating companies and faculty members expressed their appreciation to the University Management and the Industry Relations Department of Vignan's University for initiating this impactful program, highlighting it as a significant step towards meaningful industry-academia collaboration.

(Two MoUs) - recognising mutual collaboration in additive manufacturing, covering end-to-end solutions from advanced machinery to tailored materials for industries including aerospace and healthcare. OPAL-RT Technologies India Pvt. Ltd. - to foster industry-academia cooperation in advanced technology solutions and research initiatives. These agreements aim to enhance faculty exposure to industry practices, encourage collaborative research, and strengthen the synergy between academia and the evolving space and technology sectors.
