VFSTR has made significant strides in research, with 111 student publications in 2024 and an H-index of 65 in Scopus. The total citation count exceeds 34,960, with 9,992 new citations in Web of Science for 2024. The university secured four funded projects totaling Rs. 4.42 crores, covering diverse fields such as high-tech nurseries, composite materials, and mental health interventions. The Ph.D. program has grown steadily, with 514 scholars admitted over the years and 194 Ph.D.s awarded. The publication record includes contributions to IEEE conferences, Scopus, SCI journals, and book chapters, reflecting the institution’s commitment to impactful research. VFSTR has established multiple Centers of Excellence (CoEs) and research centers across various disciplines, including Advanced Materials, Composite Materials, Bio-resource Utilization, RF & Wireless Communications, VLSI, Robotics, Structural Engineering, and more. These centers have significantly contributed to research and innovation, resulting in numerous publications, patents, and funded projects. Key achievements include consultancy revenue generation, research project applications, and a steady increase in journal publications across years. The VLSI Research Center has published in reputed journals and presented papers in international and national conferences, while the Dr. C.R. VFSTR is one of the pioneering institutes near the capital region of newly formed Andhra Pradesh and the department of Electronics and Communication Engineering has made its own reputation in this region for its strong academics and research. By keeping its lead in the region, VFSTR has established a Centre of Excellence in Advanced Microwaves, RF and Wireless Communications with of World Class infrastructure for the researchers of this region in the year 2017. Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, VFSTR offer a Direct PhD program for candidates with a B.Tech degree, especially if you have a strong academic record and relevant research thrust. Candidates with UG qualification in Engineering/Technology in respective discipline with a minimum of 60% or equivalent CGPA are eligible to apply.
Yes. Candidates pursuing PG in Engineering/Technology at VFSTR or other reputed Institutes*, who have completed all the courses prescribed for the first 2 semesters with a minimum of 60% or equivalent CGPA. For such candidates, a faculty mentor is allocated after the provisional admission. Mentor could become a Research Supervisor for the Ph.D program after confirmation of Ph.D admission at VFSTR. The Master’s Project of the candidate must be in line with the proposed research topic for Ph.D and he/she needs to present a detailed, comprehensive Literature Review to the Doctoral Committee within one year of provisional admission, however candidate is required to hold a Master’s degree in Engineering / Technology with a minimum of 60% or equivalent CGPA before being formally admitted into the program.
Yes. The Doctoral Committee may suggest a candidate to take up online courses and advanced summer/winter schools and programs conducted by premier institutions as components of the course work.
Yes. Candidates from Industry can claim their experience and their role in technology in working on respective research problem for credit equivalence by furnishing proper documented evidence and justification.
Applications for the Ph.D. program shall be open and shall be considered round the year and admissions being made are aligned with the commencement of odd or even semester. Any eligible candidate who desired to seek admission to Ph.D. program may apply offline/ online through University website round the year.
Candidates from Industry/ R&D Organizations/ Academic Institutions with a minimum of five years of relevant experience related to the proposed area of research will be exempted from appearing in the written test (AARAT). However, they should appear for the Ph.D interview.
