The Department of Chemical Engineering, established in 1997, has completed over 25 years of academic excellence, producing highly skilled Chemical Engineers from undergraduate to doctoral levels. The department, supported by well-qualified and experienced faculty, ensures a strong foundation in both theoretical and applied aspects of chemical engineering.

To meet societal and industrial demands, it has expanded into specialized fields such as Textile, Food, and Petroleum Technologies. The department features state-of-the-art Unit Operations and Unit Processes laboratories, enhancing practical skills through hands-on experiments in chemical and allied industries.

  • Over the past 25+ years, the department has made significant contributions to the academic and professional growth of its students. Many alumni have pursued higher studies at prestigious institutions worldwide, while others have become key contributors to industries across India and globally.
  • The department has successfully undertaken numerous research projects funded by prominent central and state government bodies, such as the Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), and state-level science and technology departments.
  • These projects span a wide range of areas, including sustainable energy solutions, resource recovery, and process optimization and intensification for chemical and allied industries. Additionally, the department has established strong collaborations with industries, providing consultancy services to address specific technical challenges and improve process efficiency, often involving process design, simulation, and optimization for chemical, metallurgical, and pharmaceutical industries.

  • Many in the public assume chemical engineers work only in chemical plants and petroleum refineries. The reality is that chemical engineers work in a broad range of industries, including pharmaceuticals, biochemicals, semiconductor materials, foods, plastics, paper, steel, consumer goods, automotive, specialty materials, oil & gas production, renewable energy, and engineering services, among others.

  • Key to providing a benefit to society, chemical engineers are responsible for resource conservation, minimizing pollution, minimizing costs, and maximizing quality and safety of processes that make the products. The Department of Chemical Engineering has excellent infrastructure in terms of general requirements and state - of - the art lab equipment in the laboratories in particular. The department has sufficient computers, projectors and ample speed of internet and local network connectivity. The classrooms are ICT enabled, equipped with Computer, projector, SMART boards and PA systems. The department has 3 classrooms and 3 tutorial classrooms. Also, the department is equipped with a seminar hall and 4 staff rooms. Apart from the Central Library facility, the Department has a departmental library also. This library is meant for in place reference.
