The Alumni Hall of Fame celebrates the achievements of our graduates, showcasing an impressive record of 100% placements and exceptional professional growth. Our first M.A. batch secured prestigious jobs in the Media, teaching and AP Secretariat. The second batch followed suit, finding fulfilling careers as English teachers in renowned institutions. These accomplishments reflect the department's commitment to equipping students with skills for lifelong learning and meaningful careers in diverse fields.

Teaching Learning Process

The Department of English & Other Indian and Foreign Languages is committed to fostering linguistic proficiency, critical thinking, and effective interpersonal skills. Our comprehensive teaching-learning approach integrates innovative pedagogies, experiential learning, and academic rigor to equip students with the necessary competencies for personal and professional success.

Lecture and Interactive Teaching Sessions:
Faculty deliver structured lessons on English language, literature, and communication skills. Interactive methods like discussions, storytelling, and role-plays enhance student engagement.
Language Labs and Practical Exercises:
Use of technology-driven language labs for pronunciation, listening, and speaking practice. Activities like phonetics training, speech analysis, and audio-visual comprehension improve communication skills.
Voice Your Thoughts: Communication & Leadership Development:
This module enhances verbal communication and leadership skills through group discussions, debates, and public speaking exercises, empowering students to articulate ideas with confidence and clarity.
Effective Writing & Fair Assessments:
Focused on refining writing skills, this segment emphasizes structure, clarity, and critical thinking. Fair assessment practices ensure objective evaluations based on originality and analytical quality.

Rural Awareness Work Experience Programme

A flagship initiative is unique opportunity for the students to work with the farmers at their farms and identify various production, protection and marketing constraints by staying in the village for the period of 14 weeks.
it develops competency in the areas of technological, managerial and communication skills among the students.
The main components of the programme include Crop Production, Plant Protection, Rural Economics, Extension Programme and Research Station activities.

Experiential Learning Programme

The Department of Agricultural and Horticultural Sciences at VFSTR introduced the Experiential Learning Programme (ELP) in 2024-25 under ICAR-Student READY for fourth-year B.Sc (Hons) Agriculture students.
This 24-week, 20-credit program enhances enterprise management skills, fostering job creators through hands-on learning in field problems, project development, and execution in the areas of Sweet and baby corn production, Hi-tech nursery, chrysanthemum cultivation, leafy vegetables production.

Agro-Industrial Attachment Programme

The Department of Agricultural and Horticultural Sciences at VFSTR introduced the Agro-Industrial attachement Programme (AIP) in 2024-25 under ICAR-Student READY for fourth-year B.Sc (Hons) Agriculture students.
This 6-week, 6-credit program enhances work experience, building careers through hands-on learning in organisations like Prakruthivanam Organic Farm, NRI Agritech Pvt.Ltd, Coromandel International Ltd, Sahasra Crop Science Pvt.Ltd, Kanha – Shanthivanam.

Lara Green

The Department of Agricultural and Horticultural Sciences (AHS) has a 40-acre instructional farm designed to provide field-level hands-on training for B.Sc. (Hons) Agriculture students. The farm includes a well-established wetland, food forestry, a dragon fruit plot, a petal paradise plot, experimental plots, ELP modules, a vermicomposting unit, and livestock models.

Additionally, it features a USAID-funded Hi-Tech Nursery and a Tree-Based Enterprises Incubation Centre, under Trees Out Side Forest India (TOFI) which supply quality plant materials such as eucalyptus and casuarina while also imparting entrepreneurial skills to rural youth in Andhra Pradesh.

The farm cultivates a variety of field crops, including Paddy, Maize, Sorghum, Bajra, Red Gram, and Black Gram.

In addition, horticultural crops such as Mango, Banana, Papaya and Leafy Vegetables are grown, along with a diverse food forestry system consisting of 22 types of fruit crops. Guard crops are also cultivated to enhance farm sustainability.

Future developments include the establishment of an Integrated Farming System (IFS) model and an Integrated Fishery and Poultry Model to provide students with a comprehensive live learning experience.

Empowering in 3Ls, Global Perspectives, Lifelong Learning

Recognizing the importance of English proficiency for students’ academic and career success, the Department provides continuous and consistent support to students for enhancing their language proficiency and communicating effectively in English.

A team of 36 dedicated faculty members offers training and guidance for students to pursue prestigious international certifications, such as the Preliminary English Test (PET), Business English Certification (BEC), and Lingua Skills from Cambridge Assessment English, UK. These certifications validate and elevate students’ language skills, adding valuable credentials to their academic profiles.
Targeted courses like Technical English, English for Law, and Business Communication, in addition to the M.A. and Ph.D. programs are being offered by the Department. Full time scholarship-supported Ph.D. programs enable students to accelerate their research. Currently, 11 Teaching and Research Assistants are associated with the Department, while 36 scholars are pursuing part-time research in diverse fields, contributing to a rich and vibrant academic exchange on the campus. li>

Our department is nationally and internationally recognized for its dynamic intellectual atmosphere. Cambridge English exams, such as the Preliminary English Test (PET), Business English Certificate (BEC), and Lingua Skills, assess key language skills including reading, writing, listening, and speaking, equipping students with essential communication skills for academic and professional settings. Language Proficiency and Communication Skills:
Students enrolling in the Bachelor’s or Master’s programs will develop advanced language proficiency and effective communication skills through a structured and immersive learning experience. The curriculum is aimed at enabling students to read, write, speak, and comprehend English with clarity, and confidence in both academic and professional contexts.

Pedagogical Skills and Teaching Experience:>
Our MA and PhD curriculum blends theoretical knowledge with hands-on practice, and our students and scholars are trained on pedagogies to ensure that students develop the expertise required to teach English language and literature effectively in diverse educational settings.

Digital Humanities and New Media:>
The Department strives to integrate digital technologies with humanities scholarship. We focus on equipping students with the required skills to explore language, literature, culture, and history through digital tools and innovative methods.

The Department offers a state-of-the-art Computer Assisted Language Lab, equipped with the latest software for interactive learning to enable students in enhancing their language proficiency. Discussion rooms provide a vibrant space for intellectual exchange and learning through group discussions, debates, and critical analysis. Students have access to Presentation Halls for delivering seminars, presentations, and project defences, besides practising public speaking and their presentation skills. Additionally, a rich Library and Resource Centre supports in-depth research with access to a wide range of journals, digital archives, and multimedia resources.

Cambridge Centre of Excellence

Authorised Centre: The centre has an MoU with Cambridge University Press and Assessments of Cambridge University, London, UK.

Examination Centre: A dedicated and exclusive centre with all infrastructure and facilities to administer round the year English Certification Exams adhering to Cambridge standards.

State-of-the-Art Computer Laboratory: Equipped with modern technology to facilitate training, practice/mock tests and conduct paper-based as well as digital examinations in Linguaskill, B1 Preliminary, and other Cambridge assessments.

Dedicated Knowledge Centre: A specialized library offering a comprehensive collection of Cambridge examination preparation materials, including IELTS, B1 Preliminary, Linguaskill and TOEFL to support student learning.

Certified Speaking Examiners: The Centre is equipped with a cohort of 19 well trained and qualified examiners guided by a Regional Team Leader, Team Leader and Centre Exams Manager to organise, train and certify examiners for various levels of Speaking Assessments ranging from A1 Movers to C1.

Outreach and Extension Services: The Cambridge Centre also offers Training, Assessment and Certification Services to students and teachers of a number of Schools and Colleges in the A.P region.

Integrated Cambridge English Language Courses into the UG Curriculum-2015.
Signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Cambridge Assessment to conduct Cambridge English certification exams at VFSTR- 2014.
Introduced English Proficiency Course with B1 Preliminary Certification for first-year Bachelor of Technology students.
Incorporated B2 - C2 Level (BEC & Linguaskill) English Certification into UG Curriculum for second- and third-year students, aimed at preparing them for the corporate world. ,/li>
Have been extending Cambridge services to 11 preparation centres affiliated with IN269, VFSTR University.
So far the Centre has trained and certified:
- 5,000 students at B2 level (Business English) Certification.
- 15,000 students at B1 (Preliminary English) Certification.
- 2,500 school students at A1 to A2 levels.

The Centre Offers:

Linguaskill Training and Certification (B1-C2) enhances students’ ability:
- To communicate effectively in everyday workplace and business contexts.
- To observe the protocols of corporate communication in preparing reports, office memos, Emails etc.
- To make impactful presentations in diverse settings.
B1 Preliminary Training and Certification Course enhances students:
- Ability to communicate in English for practical everyday purposes like writing letters, mails, participating in peer interactions, sharing opinions and making short presentations.
- Comprehension Skills in Reading and Listening and makes them confident users of the language.
- Overall skill set to explore study, work and travel opportunities globally.

Young Learners English & KEY English Certification for Schools enables students:

To enhance their oral proficiency and conduct their activities in everyday context.
To develop reading and listening comprehension skills for academic progression.

Teacher Support Programmes:

In 2017, to enhance the faculty resources of the English Department, Cambridge Centre organised CELTA training and Certification for its’ English faculty as a part of the continuous professional development and equipping them to teach in diverse international contexts.
Hands on workshops are regularly offered to faculty on language pedagogies and materials development.
Regular interactive sessions with visiting Cambridge delegates helps faculty to keep themselves updated on new trends in language teaching and learning.
