Summary
In his lecture, Dr. Gananadhamu provided a comprehensive and insightful exploration of High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), focusing on its pivotal role in the separation, identification, and quantification of pharmaceuticals. He elaborated on the fundamental principles of HPLC, explaining concepts such as chromatographic separation mechanisms, stationary and mobile phases, and retention time. The talk covered instrumentation in detail, including components such as the solvent delivery system (pumps), injector, column, detector, and data acquisition systems. Dr. Gananadhamu emphasized the importance of sample preparation techniques as a critical step in achieving accurate, reproducible results. Using real-world case studies from his research and industrial collaborations, he illustrated practical applications of HPLC in drug development, quality control, and regulatory compliance. Participants were taken on a step-by-step journey from raw sample handling to obtaining and interpreting chromatographic results. The discussion also touched upon emerging trends in HPLC technology, such as ultra-high performance liquid chromatography (UHPLC), advances in detectors, and green chromatography approaches aimed at reducing solvent usage and environmental impact. The session was highly interactive, with students and faculty members actively engaging in question-and-answer exchanges. Dr. Gananadhamu addressed queries on troubleshooting common analytical challenges, optimizing separation parameters, and selecting appropriate detection methods for specific pharmaceutical compounds. The guest lecture witnessed enthusiastic participation from B. Pharm. students, faculty members of the department, and students from other related disciplines, reflecting the broad relevance of the topic. The resource person’s ability to combine technical depth with practical insights made the lecture both educational and inspiring.

About Guest Lecture
The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences organized an enriching guest lecture on the topic “High Performance Liquid Chromatography: Sample to Solution” for the benefit of B. Pharm. students on 9th August 2025 (Saturday). The session was graced by the presence of the eminent resource person, Dr. S. Gananadhamu, Associate Professor at the prestigious National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER), Hyderabad. The program commenced with a warm welcome address, followed by an introduction of the speaker highlighting his academic background, research contributions, and expertise in the field of analytical sciences. Dr. Gananadhamu emphasized the importance of sample preparation techniques as a critical step in achieving accurate, reproducible results. The session was chaired by Dr. Ch. Jithendra, Head of the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, and was coordinated by Dr. Sathish Kumar Konidala, Associate Professor, who oversaw the planning and smooth execution of the event. In his concluding remarks, Dr. Ch. Jithendra expressed gratitude to Dr. Gananadhamu for his valuable contribution and encouraged students to apply the knowledge gained in their academic projects and future professional endeavors. A memento was presented to the guest as a token of appreciation. The event successfully achieved its objective of enhancing the students’ understanding of HPLC technology, bridging the gap between theoretical concepts and their practical applications in the pharmaceutical sciences
