ECE Department Student Achievement - IEEE AESS INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL GRANT
Vignan ECE Student Receives Prestigious IEEE AESS International Travel Grant It is a moment of immense pride and honor for the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering at Vignans Foundation for Science, Technology and Research (Deemed to be University), Vadlamudi, as our final year undergraduate student, Mr. Sarikonda Gopi Krishna Raju (Reg. No. 231LA05010), has been selected as a recipient of prestigious international travel grant of USD 800 by the IEEE Aerospace and Electronic Systems Society (AESS). Mr. Sarikonda Gopi Krishna Raju will represent Vignan at the IEEE AESS Student and Young Professionals (SYP) Congress 2025, to be held from August 13 to 15, 2025 in Nairobi, Kenya. This global forum brings together outstanding students, young professionals, and researchers in the field of aerospace and electronic systems. IEEE AESS SYP Congress 2025 Nairobi, Kenya August 13 to 15, 2025. This is the ultimate achievement of interdisciplinary guidance and strategic planning to support student career growth. I am proud to see our student representing Vignan on a global platform. During my time at Vignan University, I had the privilege of utilizing the state-of-the-art Microwave Laboratory and the Center of Excellence (CoE-RF) in Antenna Design. These resources were pivotal in shaping my understanding of complex microwave and antenna technologies. The hands-on experience I gained, along with the guidance from faculty, played a significant role in my journey towards becoming a Research Scientist at SAMEER, MIETY, Govt. of India. The well-equipped labs helped me build a strong foundation in areas like high-power antenna design, microwave tube testing, and integration. My work on radar modules for the Indian Army and Air Force during my tenure as a Junior Research Fellow at LRDE, DRDO was greatly influenced by this practical experience. Additionally, I had the opportunity to work with advanced tools such as Optiwave and Lumerical software to design photonics circuits, which culminated in publishing an IEEE paper on 'Photonics Integrated Circuits' in 2024.

The VLSI design research centre facilities, with a collaborative atmosphere, enhancing the quality of both faculty and student research significantly. The availability of advanced design tools such as Cadence, Synopsys, and Siemens with support of the C2S scheme, MeitY has been a major enabler of high-quality research in the VLSI design research centre. These tools allow us to perform in-depth design, simulation, and verification of complex VLSI circuits. The availability of FPGA boards and real-time testing platforms further enhances the practical implementation of research ideas, enabling the transition from theoretical models to hardware prototypes.

The Department has distinguished faculty, with M.Tech and Ph.D. degrees from renowned institutes like IIT’s, NIT’s, Central Universities, etc., Most of them are GATE/NET qualified.
The teaching methodology adopted by the Department is in complete synergy with the latest and evolving market challenges and trends. We follow highly interactive, student-centric, and innovative teaching methodologies that emphasize learning by experimenting and experiencing to groom future technical leaders and managers. These include case studies, group discussions, seminars, projects, quizzes, and special lectures of experts from the corporation.
The department has state-of-the-art, modern, and well-equipped Laboratories with adequate facilities. Classrooms are fitted with the latest equipment for making presentations, lectures, debates, and group discussions take place in the most convenient and enriching way. Students get all the ICT (Information and Communication Technologies) support in their Smart Classrooms and are encouraged to perform as digital learners.
