Dr. Y. Nayudamma Memorial Lecture Organised
The Department of Social Sciences and Humanities (SSH), in collaboration with the Department of English and Other Foreign Languages and the Dr. Yelavarthy Nayudamma Science & Technology Foundation, organised the Shri Dr. Y. Nayudamma Memorial Science Lecture Series–2026 at VFSTR to commemorate the 41st death anniversary of Padma Shri Dr. Yelavarthy Nayudamma, popularly known as “The People’s Scientist.” The programme was conducted as the fourth session of Udbhavya – Igniting Wisdom, Inspiring Change, the flagship lecture series of the Department of Social Sciences and Humanities aimed at fostering intellectual engagement and transformative learning. The programme brought together academicians, scientists, and students to celebrate Dr. Nayudamma’s enduring contributions to science, technology, and social development. A documentary screening highlighted his inspiring journey and pioneering role in advancing India’s leather industry and scientific research. Addressing the gathering, Prof. K. V. Krishna Kishore, Vice-Chancellor, VFSTR, paid tribute to Dr. Nayudamma’s scientific achievements and commitment to societal welfare. Delivering the memorial lecture, Prof. V. J. K. Kishore Sonti, Vice-Chancellor, Jeppiaar University, Chennai, emphasized the importance of scientific thinking, curiosity, and education in shaping future generations. Prof. N. Srinivasu, Dean of the School of Applied Sciences and Humanities and the Convener of the event, highlighted the relevance of Dr. Nayudamma’s life and values for today’s students, encouraging them to pursue excellence while remaining committed to society.
