VFSTR is one of the pioneering institutes near the capital region of newly formed Andhra Pradesh and the department of Electronics and Communication Engineering has made its own reputation in this region for its strong academics and research. By keeping its lead in the region, VFSTR has established a Centre of Excellence in Advanced Microwaves, RF and Wireless Communications with of World Class infrastructure for the researchers of this region in the year 2017. The CoE has been established with 12 Crore rupee investment as a joint collaboration between VFSTR and Keysight Sight Technologies, USA.

Signal & Image Processing Research Center
This Center focuses on machine learning for soil parameter retrieval and integrating IoT for crop management.

Communication and Signal Processing Research Center
This Center advances high-speed communication systems for future wireless networks, focusing on signal processing and synchronization challenges.

VLSI Design Research Center
This center develops low-power, high-performance ICs for 5G and biomedical applications, while training skilled engineers.

Wireless and Sensor Networks Research Center
This center advances IoT prototypes for real-time applications, focusing on sensor data integration and network optimization.

Research Centers
In the past three years, the ECE department has significantly enhanced its research capabilities with the acquisition of advanced tools, including MATLAB R2024, Keysight System Vue, Vector Signal Generators, and DSP Starter Kits. These upgrades support a wide range of research in RF, microwave, wireless communications, VLSI design, and signal processing. The department's research centers have achieved remarkable outcomes, publishing over 300 papers across various platforms, securing multiple patents, and successfully conducting numerous UG projects.

During my time at Vignan University, I had the privilege of utilizing the state-of-the-art Microwave Laboratory and the Center of Excellence (CoE-RF) in Antenna Design. These resources were pivotal in shaping my understanding of complex microwave and antenna technologies. The hands-on experience I gained, along with the guidance from faculty, played a significant role in my journey towards becoming a Research Scientist at SAMEER, MIETY, Govt. of India. The well-equipped labs helped me build a strong foundation in areas like high-power antenna design, microwave tube testing, and integration. My work on radar modules for the Indian Army and Air Force during my tenure as a Junior Research Fellow at LRDE, DRDO was greatly influenced by this practical experience. Additionally, I had the opportunity to work with advanced tools such as Optiwave and Lumerical software to design photonics circuits, which culminated in publishing an IEEE paper on 'Photonics Integrated Circuits' in 2024.

The VLSI design research centre facilities, with a collaborative atmosphere, enhancing the quality of both faculty and student research significantly. The availability of advanced design tools such as Cadence, Synopsys, and Siemens with support of the C2S scheme, MeitY has been a major enabler of high-quality research in the VLSI design research centre. These tools allow us to perform in-depth design, simulation, and verification of complex VLSI circuits. The availability of FPGA boards and real-time testing platforms further enhances the practical implementation of research ideas, enabling the transition from theoretical models to hardware prototypes.

Yes, you can work on a research project with a faculty member from another department; however, you must have an ECE faculty member act as a supervisor on the project to confirm that the research is relevant to your ECE degree.
